A once-central idea of Ancient Greece, kairos (καιρÏŒς) denotes the right, critical, or opportune moment — the instant when time is charged with possibility and decisive action becomes possible.
It stands in contrast to chronos (χρÏŒνος), the measurable flow of minutes and years. Whereas chronos is clock time, kairos is qualitative time: the fitting moment, shaped by timing, context, and will, when transformation can occur.
